What To Expect

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US

What can you expect when visiting Star Field Glamping and Camping at Charity Farm? This page may look a bit wordy but it is important so we've broken it down into sections to give you a better idea of what your experience will be like when you book a unit with us.

 

BEFORE ARRIVAL (ALL UNITS)

  • You will receive a booking confirmation from us which will also contain helpful guidelines for your arrival. 

  • We will text you any further instructions the night before, or the morning of your arrival date if needed.

 

GENERAL

  • We are off-grid with no electrical hook-ups but we do have 'The Power House' where you can recharge devices and refreeze ice packs.

  • There is a covered washing up area with hot water and bins for recycling various types of waste.

  • Please be aware that the field is on a slight slope, it is not extreme and shouldn't send you sliding down your tent, however, we feel it is important to be aware of the slope before booking - view our gallery for a visual of the field.

  • Our camping field is natural and not manicured, when not used for camping it is used for grazing sheep.

  • All facilities and the field itself will be monitored every day and kept clean and safe.

SAFARI TENTS

  • Our safari tents include two bedrooms, one double and one triple with bedding included, a hob and fridge, a kitchen pack (including a kettle, pots and pans, crockery, cutlery, utensils, and tea towels), solar or battery lighting, a sofa, a fire bowl/bbq with equipment, our fire kit which includes logs, kindling, firelighters, and matches, (we do insist you do not forage for wood or any burning material) and a picnic table.

  • You will have your own private composting loo and hot shower.

  • Please bring your own towels.

  • No smoking inside.

 

DRESSED BELL TENTS 

  • Our dressed bell tents include a pre-pitched tent, matting, an awning, a double bed with mattress protector, optional single beds (up to 2), side tables, a double gas ring, kitchen pack (including a kettle, pots and pans, crockery, cutlery, utensils, and tea towels), a cool box, solar or battery lighting, a mirror, a fire bowl/bbq with equipment, our fire kit which includes logs, kindling, firelighters, and matches, (we do insist you do not forage for wood or any burning material) and a picnic table.

  • You will have your own private composting loo and hot shower.

  • Please bring your own towels.

  • We are dog-friendly but ask for no dogs in our dressed bell tents.

  • No smoking inside

 

NAKED BELL TENTS 

  • Our standard bell tents include a pre-pitched tent a double bed and two single futons with a mattress and mattress protector, matting, an awning, a composting toilet, and a hot shower. There is also a standard fire ring, you can opt to buy our fire kit which includes logs, kindling, firelighters, and matches, we do insist you do not forage for wood or any burning material.

  • No smoking inside.

 

GRASS PITCH

  • Camping pitches are suitable for tents, bell tents, trailer tents. Small camper vans can be accommodated in the main field.

  • With 10 available pitches in 5 acres, your pitch will be both spacious and private.

  • We have provided composting toilets and hot showers on the camping field and instructions for use.

  • Each pitch has a fire ring, you can opt to buy a fire kit which includes logs, kindling, firelighters, and matches, we do insist you do not forage for wood or any burning material.

THE FARM

  • There is a country store located on the farm, less than a minute's walk from the camping field, which sells a range of products including pet food, clothing, fire fuel (logs, charcoal, kindling & firelighters), and Calor gas.

  • There is a well-stocked farm shop located on the farm, less than a minute's walk from the camping field.

WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU

By booking a unit with us you are agreeing to this camping code which we have put in place to ensure everyone enjoys their stay with us.

GENERAL

  • We do not accommodate unaccompanied under 18's.

  • We are off-grid so you will not be able to plug anything in on the campsite.

  • No music or loud noise before 7:30 am or past 10:30 pm and no amplified music.

  • The main gate will be closed and locked between 11 pm and 7 am for the safety and security of campers and the farm.

  • Check in is between 3 pm and 7 pm and check out is by 11 am.

  • Please be aware and sensitive to the fact that Charity Farm is a working farm. We have taken all important safety precautions, but we ask that you are respectful and careful of staff, customers, property and vehicles.

  • No more than 1 vehicle is permitted per pitch, you can take your car to your pitch to unload but you are then required to leave your car in the space provided next to the campsite to accommodate a family-friendly field. No vehicles (except campervans) are allowed on the field after dark.

  • We do not accommodate caravans or motorhomes.

  • The minimum stay is for 2 nights. (Waived in low season).

  • Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times on site. Star Field Camping will accept no responsibility for any personal injury sustained on our premises. Likewise, we accept no responsibility for visitor's property.

  • Star Field Camping is not liable for refunds or expenses you incur in the event we are prevented from fulfilling your Booking as a result of circumstances beyond our control. Such circumstances shall include (but will not be limited to) war, terrorism, serious crime, industrial action, flooding, natural disaster, epidemics, or such similar events ("Force Majeure"). We recommend that you have adequate holiday insurance in place to cover this.

  • A 30% non-refundable deposit is required on booking with the balance due 30 days before arrival. 

  • If you cancel between 8 – 28 days before the arrival date, a 50% refund will be given. Any cancellation with 7 days or less notice will not be refunded. Should you need to change the dates of your campsite booking, you may do so up to 1 week before your arrival to another date within the same season subject to availability. We are unable to alter booking dates with less than 1 week's notice. Greener Camping Membership fees are non-refundable, and if you book through a third-party their booking fee is non-refundable.

  • Group bookings will require one person to be the 'group leader'; that person will be responsible for the rest of the group and any damage caused by the group must be paid for by the 'group leader'.

  • Any deposits paid are non-refundable.

 

DOGS

  • We are certainly dog friendly, but for the sake of other campers we only permit up to 3 dogs per pitch, and none in our luxury bell tents. 

  • Dogs are only allowed with prior agreement. We ask dogs are kept on a lead, and not left alone on the campsite or car park, they must not cause a nuisance to other guests or livestock.  Campers are expected to clean up after their dogs (dog waste bins are provided). If these conditions are not met you will be asked to remove your dog from the site.

 

CAMPFIRES

  • Campfires are permitted but they must be contained in the fire rings provided for your safety and the safety of the other campers.

  • Logs and kindling must be purchased from the countrystore(via cash or card). We do not permit you to bring your own wood to the campsite, or to collect firewood on site - please keep in mind that the sticks found around the site are homes to the wildlife around us!

  • BBQs are permitted and you may bring your own charcoal, alternatively, charcoal and Calor gas are available to purchase on site.

  • We reserve the right to ban campfires and BBQs at any time if we deem it unsafe, an example of this is in extreme weather conditions.

 

FIRE SAFETY

  • Fire extinguishers are available at the marked points on site.

  • Tents must be pitched at a minimum of 6 meters apart.

  • Campfires must be attended at all times and entirely extinguished before you go to bed or leave the site.
